RFK Jr. Joins Trump’s Team: Is This the Crypto Boost He Needs to Win?
Is This Trump’s Formula for 2024 US Elections?
Former President Donald Trump, facing a revised federal indictment, added ex-Democrat and pro-crypto advocate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to his transition team. This move was part of Trump’s effort to build a bipartisan coalition ahead of the November elections.
Kennedy, who had focused on cryptocurrency and Bitcoin (BTC) during his presidential campaign, initially ran as a Democrat before switching to an independent bid. He suspended his campaign on August 23 and soon after endorsed Trump. Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democratic Representative and 2020 presidential candidate, also joined Trump’s team.
Kennedy’s Role in Trump’s Team
On August 27, Trump campaign adviser Brian Hughes confirmed that Kennedy and Gabbard were added to the Trump/Vance Transition team.
“As President Trump’s coalition expands across party lines, we are proud to add Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard,” Hughes told Reuters.
In an interview with Tucker Carlson on August 26, Kennedy shared that he was asked to help select the individuals who would run the government if Trump wins in November.

Despite these additions, Trump was trailing Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris by 3.4 points in national polls as of August 27, according to FiveThirtyEight. Harris had maintained her lead over Trump since becoming the Democratic frontrunner. Kennedy, who had recently suspended his campaign, was polling at 4.6% before exiting.
New Indictment Against Trump
Trump is also facing a new federal indictment from a grand jury in Washington, D.C., accusing him of trying to overturn the 2020 election results. The indictment, filed on August 27, includes charges of conspiracy to defraud the U.S., conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.
This updated indictment focuses on Trump as a candidate and private citizen, following a Supreme Court ruling in July that suggested Trump had immunity from prosecution for official acts performed as president.
Trump’s Response to the Charges
In response, Trump claimed on Truth Social that U.S. Special Counsel Jack Smith “rewrote the same case” to bypass the Supreme Court’s decision on presidential immunity. Trump had previously pleaded not guilty and argued that the case should be dismissed on those grounds.
As Trump gears up for the election, he is bolstering his team with figures like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard to reach voters across party lines. However, ongoing legal battles continue to overshadow his campaign as he seeks a return to the presidency.
